Carol was born in Columbia, Missouri on January 22, 1947, to her parents Abram Hays Blessing and Gertrude Louise Clark.  She was the oldest child of 2 brothers, Frank and Brian Blessing.  Carol had a happy childhood and was able to live in several different states throughout her younger years when her family would move due to new job opportunities.  Growing up she loved to be with friends, camp, hike, and visit her grandparents.  Carol graduated high school and studied at the University of Maryland and Idaho State University.

Carol had 4 children between 2 marriages.  She cherished each of her children and was a loving mother.  She remained active in all of their lives as they grew into adults.  Carol accepted her children’s spouses with open arms and made them feel as if they were her own children.  Her unconditional acceptance of others was truly one of her gifts.  Carol was blessed with 10 grandchildren, and she loved each of them beyond words.

Carol made numerous long-lasting friendships throughout her life.  She held each of her friends dear to her heart.  She would often start her day with a phone call to friends, drinking coffee and talking about anything and everything.  She shared many adventures with her dear friend Harold and made treasured memories with his family throughout the past few years.

Carol’s faith was of utmost importance to her.  She loved God and often talked about His love for us all.  Prayer was an important part of her life and she participated in a home small group of close friends.  She cherished her congregation and small group.  They were pillars of strength for her and beloved friends.

Carol lived most of her life in Idaho Falls, Idaho. In Idaho Falls she held a few different positions with Aglow Women’s fellowship including chapter president in 1987-88. She also nannied Hannah who she loved dearly.  She later moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where she retired in 2013.  Her final home was in Oro Valley, Arizona.  She loved her home and was surrounded by love and support from those around her.

Carol traveled throughout her life and saw many beautiful sites.  She traveled back and forth to Idaho to visit family but also expanded her travels to many states and countries.  She was adventurous and loved life, from kissing a dolphin to flying in a hot air balloon, she lived life to the fullest.

Carol emitted love to others and her joy for life was unstoppable.  She always had a smile on her face, a sparkle in her eye and a laughter that was both contagious and constant.  Carol focused on the positives in life and ways she could help others.  Even through some of her darkest trials, she never gave up on herself or others.  Her strength to overcome was extraordinary.

Carol is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Stephanie Potts, of Tucson, Arizona; her son, Mike Nelson, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Kristi Nelson, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and her grandchildren Joshua, Lauren, Kayleen, Nalia, Chace, Ashleigh, Aimee, Traven, Zerik and Skylee.
